Meetings

Meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the second Saturday of January, April, and October at the Currituck County Public Library (4261 Caratoke Hwy, Barco, NC).

The July meeting is held on the second Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to avoid tourist traffic.

Meetings are open to anyone interested in the topic presented or in genealogy in general. Visitors are welcome.

James Oglesby, Antique Collector and Assessor, presents an AGS Antiques Roadshow

Oglesby will provide an informal appraisal of family heirlooms and other antiques.

Each participant may bring one item for assessment. Oglesby will offer his expertise providing information about estimated value, history and/or collectability. He is particularly knowledgeable with regard to china and glassware, clocks, and furniture.

Sargeant Memorial Collection at the Slover Library (Norfolk Public Library) with emphasis on resources for Northeastern NC & the Outer Banks Region. Presentation by Troy Valos, MA, MSIS, Special Collections Librarian, Sargeant Memorial Collection.

All Albemarle Genealogical Society (AGS) meetings and presentations are free and open to the public. No registration is required.


Other Genealogy Meetings of Interest:
The Currituck County Public Library in Barco has a Genealogy Club that meets the first Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. Registration is requested, but not required to attend this informal group of genealogy enthusiasts who share research methods and findings.
